How the calculations work & their limits
Total cost = material + purge + power + machine wear + setup labor + finishing + packaging + expected retry cost. Divide by the number of successful parts for unit cost. All colors use one average filament price.
The retry model assumes independent whole-plate failures until one plate succeeds. Expected retries = failure rate ÷ (1 − failure rate). Each retry consumes the entered resource fraction plus a full setup. Partial failures and correlated failures are not modeled.
These sample inputs are hypothetical, not measured demand, average failure rates or verified platform fees. Estimates exclude taxes and costs you have not entered. Lower cost does not imply demand, commercial print rights, or a profitable business.
